Drills and strides are an important part of the warmup, but we do not recommend performing them on a treadmill. It's difficult to set the treadmill to the appropriate speed for each drill. The risk of falling or tripping is too high. If your gym has a long hallway or basketball court, do your drills in there. If not, follow these steps:
- Run a little extra for your warmup jog on the treadmill
- Pause the treadmill
- Drink some water
- Try out some of these Active Warm Up exercises on solid ground. (They don't require as much space as our regular drills routine.)
- Get back on the treadmill for your first interval.
